The nozzle of a laser cutting machine is one of the core components of the laser cutting head. It is mainly responsible for focusing the laser beam and guiding the auxiliary gas (such as oxygen, nitrogen or compressed air) to precisely act on the material surface. Its design directly affects the cutting quality, speed and stability, and is a key component for efficient processing.
1. Core Function
Gas Control: The nozzle removes slag from the cutting area through high-speed airflow, preventing material oxidation or contamination, and simultaneously cooling the cutting area to enhance the edge finish.
Focus assistance: Works in synergy with the lens to ensure precise focusing of the laser beam, maintaining high energy density to achieve efficient cutting.
2. Type and Parameters
Aperture Specifications: Common aperture sizes range from 0.8mm to 3.0mm. Small apertures are suitable for fine cutting (such as thin plates or high-precision patterns), while large apertures are suitable for thick materials or high-speed cutting.
Gas Adaptation: Select the type of gas based on the material type (metal or non-metal). For oxygen for combustion support and nitrogen for oxidation prevention. The nozzle structure needs to match the gas pressure and flow requirements.
3. Material and Durability
Nozzles are mostly made of high thermal conductivity and high-temperature resistant copper alloys (such as red copper). In some scenarios, ceramic coatings or special alloys are used to enhance corrosion resistance and wear resistance, thereby prolonging the service life.
4. Application Scenarios
Precision Machining: Small-diameter nozzles are used for precise cutting of electronic components, medical devices, etc.
Industrial thick plate cutting: A large-diameter nozzle combined with high-pressure gas is suitable for processing thick metal plates in the fields of ships and heavy industry.
5. Maintenance and Replacement
Regularly check whether the nozzle holes are clogged or worn out. Abnormal conditions may lead to a decline in cutting quality (such as an increase in burrs). It is recommended to replace the nozzle every 50 to 200 hours based on usage frequency and keep it clean.
